1st Congratulations on a successful return of being able to walk, talk & work safely (pacemaker installation).
2nd - I would suggest assembling several photos of your sculpture & taking them with you on the next cardiac appointment. Show the photos to the cardiologist & ask him point blank about welding & pacemakers. He should be able to help. Reason for the photos is to establish that you really do serious welding & are not a weekend warrior in arts. Ergo an office worker with artist leanings. This could make a difference in their advice. Three weeks ago, I had open-heart surgery for a defective heart valve. From the begining I shared a notebook of work showing the range of my stone sculpture. This sharing was done on purpose. I impressed on them that this is my occupation and I want to return to it after the heart blip-in-the-road was concluded. I wanted to set their expectations as to what I assumed was to happen. And if my post-heart surgery strategy was not going to happen, I wanted to know now to make future plans. So be open with your Cardiologist but definitely get an answer. You do not want to ground out your pacemaker before it has had a chance to start giving you benefits.

Andrew: Many thanks for the explicit data. Not what I had in mind but ....... would like to come up with another answer. Do you think that a 110V unit might work better?

I don't know, and I'd hesitate to say it was better only to have you find out I was wrong about that. I wonder if you could build yourself a Faraday cage to weld in - there's some talk about it here:
