Making a Honeybee using pepakura from 3d meshes....
Hello,
I recently made a video about a honeybee I made by outputting it from a 3d mesh I made into the paper folding programmer Pepakura. I made - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sUj17t_94dw&feature=plcp Check it out, let me know any ideas. James. |

I looked at your video and the program (Pepakura). Although the detail is not what I would do (far too blocky/chunky)-- I really do see this as a potential help in certain areas of sculpture. I was thinking about what could be done in more abstract art. There is also a decent "pointing up" value. I believe the program costs less than 40$ but what sort of printer would you need? Huge?

You could for example print on a4 using a normal printer then increase to an a3 or a2 etc, then reinforce the paper with thin wood on that scale.
As concluded in the video, the programme is ok if you want the blocky aesthetic or to use the shape as a general maquette but for detail other technologies such as 3d printing and also using 123d catch and 123d make are better for that. |
