Re: press release
Thanks D. I like it too. it had been standing at my studio for a couple years so I really had time to see it The face looks alot like klaus kinski, the actor. So I can understand why people may think its ugly Ha. I lucked out on the location, about 3 million people a year walk pass it and many more drive by it. I stood and watch people walk by it for a while and not a single person looked at it so I guess out of those millions a few will see it

Re: press release
I think most people in the big cities suffer from “occupational blindness”anyway. Congratulations on your public installation must be a proud moment for you.

Re: press release
Congrats, Russell! Your sculpture looks great. The ignorance of some of the comments was painful to read, but not all that surprising. What a great intiatiative from the city! Were you invited or was there a selection process involved?

Re: press release
The city insures the project. Rika I failed to get a decent photo, in the morning it's in shade and by afternoon the sun is in your lens. Soon they will take professional pics and I can post then. Here is the best I can do for now

Re: press release
I couldn't see the comments but a few years ago, We did a Blacksmith / forging demo at the SICA Outdoor art show. We completed a Large Metal Piece.....and carried it to a median that looks very similar to the one you have your piece on. I did a write up for the blacksmith group about the event and this is the last paragraph.
", I still wasn’t completely sure we really created an “Art Piece” until after the reception when on my way home as dusk hit the horizon I stopped at the center island, jumped out of the car and pounded down one extra rebar staple into the leg. And just as the sledge slammed the final anchoring shot, a driver yelled out his window “HEY.YOOO… Get RID AH THAT JUNK”." |
