Re: Fiberglass sculpture
fiberglass is just another product that has it's own needs
what, exactly are you trying to acomplish and what methodology are you employing? most of my work has fiberglass copies http://sculpture.alturl.com if you tell me what you're trying to do and where you want to go, i may be able to help you understand the strengths and limitations of the material and apropriate methodologies in it's useage meanwhile; maurice Lannon wrote a nice introductory book titled "Polyester and fiberglass" and Kowal and Meilach adressed the material in their book, "Sculpture casting" also see Jack Wiley's book "The Fiberglass repair and construction handbook" bon adventure rod |

Re: Fiberglass sculpture
Hi,
use resins and glass alot and it is quite endless what you can do. Resin bonded metals from bronze, copper, and aliminiun give great effect and I use resin bonded marble dust for effects of false marble. At first I had not much like for cold cast sculpture but it can give a great impression of what the peice look like in bronze. Useing resin bonded agrigates from sands to marble dust is a fasinating medium to develop new ideas and alot ofuseful techneques come from experimentation. My key tip is to remember that poleyester resin needs an agrigate to cast in thick peices. Happy to share my small knowledge anytime.Have fun but remember your health and its messy and smelly. |
