I'm back- posting some work using both traditional and digital processes.
I have been away for a while, actually just finishing up an MFA with a dual focus, one of which is using digital technology in the traditional studio. After graduation I'm embarking on a new book project on the topic, more on that later.
I have been talking about what I call tra-digi art, for a few years, and perhaps you have seen some of my videos. Tra-digi art is using both traditional and digital process to realize artwork into a physical form. Here is a video I createad a while ago, I'm not sure if I have posted it here before You Tube Video Here is a project that I just finished, an 11 foot panther for Prairie View A & M University. ![]() I document it on this blog http://prairieviewpanther.blogspot.com/ and here is another video on that project http://blip.tv/creative-endeavors/pa...-texas-5327500 I used tra-digi art in the presentation for this piece ![]() and some information on the process of that http://creativesculpture.com/blog/20...photoshop.html http://creativesculpture.com/blog/20...ing-along.html http://creativesculpture.com/blog/20...sh-part-1.html I'm starting a new project again using tra-digi art. You can follow it here. http://www.erjcc.blogspot.com/ It is good to be back on the forum, missed you guys, can't wait to share some of the things I have discovered, and look forward to perhaps using some of your work in the new book.

Hi icreate, impressive works !
The panther looks great. I find it's assembly from pieces. Do you use lost wax to cast it or what? |

Re: I'm back- posting some work using both traditional and digital processes.
hzjhds, Thanks for the comment. Yes, I use the lost wax method of bronze casting but I have been researching how the new technology is infiltrating this process. I look forward to the day when the envelope ( size) and the price come to a place where they are affordable in my regular commissions. I am however, using other digital means to cast smaller pieces. The lost wax process an entire process of creating the panther is in this link http://prairieviewpanther.blogspot.com/ I also have a photo album of the entire process, with more pictures then what is on the blog on my facebook page.
I'm working on a new project that is using the tra-digi process ( using traditional and digital means to create physical art)

Thanks for your reply icreate.
I think sand casting should be more suitable for csating your panther at this size becasue it can cast your sculpture as a whole piece (may be a light assembly) which can save some later labor. Owen |

Hi Bridgette,
Read every entry on the blog, what a journey and what a time frame. I'm blown away by what you achieved, absolutely amazing and a huge credit to your work ethic and 'stickability'. And out of all that comes this amazing piece. Also really really impressed by the subtle appropriate use of technology but then the overlay of your creativity with the fleshing out of the shape. Sound like a one man cheer squad, but just cruised over to see what was happening on this forum and didn't expect to be astonished ![]() ![]() Jonathan |

A really excellent panther with all the right stuff, stalky'springy gesture, intensity of gaze, good anatomy and detail without overkill. Those who commissioned it should be proud of their choice!

Yes, that panther is "panthering" very, very well. Which is everything.
