Miami FL Jan 2012

Taking a few days to warm up. Anything doing art-wise in the Miami area?

Re: Miami FL Jan 2012

if you just hit the standard museums and collections, it will fill your time up quick-

the Miami Art Museum downtown,
the Bass in Miami Beach,
the Moca in North Miami,
the Wolfsonian in Miami Beach- I love this one- eccentric personal collection in a beautiful art deco building.

plus the private collections-
the Rubell - http://www.rfc.museum/
the Marguiles- http://www.margulieswarehouse.com/
the De La Cruz- http://www.delacruzcollection.org/index.html
the Cisneros- http://www.coleccioncisneros.org/

here is a good link of addresses and info from December, obviously new shows now.

Re: Miami FL Jan 2012

Thanks for the tips. Did not get to everything of course. Not enough time and I had a pressing engagement on the beach with a book. Managed to make a few on the list and also discovered the Bakehouse Art Complex, www.bacfl.org. It's a converted 3.2 acre commercial bakery turned arts complex. Operated by a non-profit, it provides affordable work and show space. Worth a visit just for the building but plenty of good art going on as well. This is located in the area just north of the Miami Art Museum in the Wynwood Arts District. This neighborhood has had some major redevelopment going on thanks to the artists and designers that have moved in. This year will see the first 'Art Wynwood', international contemporary art fair, Feb. 16-20, 2012, www.art-wynwood.com
