Re: TANGO SCULPTURES

I really enjoy the raw gestured sensuality of them, but some of the heads fall a little short for me. They look withered sometimes & not part of the rest of the emotional package, not engaged.

Re: TANGO SCULPTURES

I am a little distracted by their heads too, but not if I just feel the drama you have created with their bodies. They are wonderful overall. I think, for me, a very shiny base would add to the professional and dramatic look of it. Them, reflected in the floor.

These are original and exciting. I would buy two if I could. Scout

Re: TANGO SCULPTURES

Gesturally, I think they're great. A lot of movement and energy. But the heads also bother me and the mixing of finished and unfinished forms doesn't work. The tango is passionate and dramatic, but the style of these sculpts makes it more whimsical - with the small heads looking like a parody of the tango's dramatic facial expressions.

I enjoyed seeing your work in China. It was one of my favorite pieces. THe human element, the struggle, the equilibrium. I think this current work has those same qualities.

Re: TANGO SCULPTURES

Gloria,

You are capable of much better work. I take it you don't dance tango ? You have chosen the "show tango" moves used by narcissists and seen in all of the tango shows...dramatic poses to be sure but so much like the commercial work you see around Dorrego Square. Tango at it's roots is about ecstasy of connection between men and women....I urge you to reconsider the work and I would look forward to seeing your next iteration.

Re: TANGO SCULPTURES

i realize i'm replying to an old post, but i just want to say that i think these sculptures are utterly fascinating! i love them. i'm not in the least bothered by the heads which aren't what these are about, it's about the language of their bodies, the dance... to my eyes incredibly beautiful !

granted, giotto, i've never danced the tango and for that matter don't know much about sculpture, but i like what i see here!
