Sculpture contenders on show

This is a BBC video showing the 5 shortlisted designs.

I also like the while horse design, simple but striking.

Sculpture contenders on show

7 May 2008. Five shortlisted designs have been unveiled for a 2m [$4m] hilltop landmark in Kent, [England] which will be visible from road, rail and air.

Re: Sculpture contenders on show

This is an online news story about these contenders, from the Guardian.

Plan for Britain's biggest sculpture

May 8, 2008. A monumental, lifelike white horse is the early favourite to become the largest piece of public sculpture Britain has ever produced. At cost of 2m, it will be more than twice as expensive as Antony Gormley's celebrated Angel of the North. And, at 50 metres, it will be well over double the angel's height.

Horse and art ... Mark Wallinger's shortlisted proposal
for the Ebbsfleet Landmark

Five proposals for the sculpture have been unveiled. The artists are Mark Wallinger, who came up with the giant horse; Rachel Whiteread, who proposes a cast house atop a mountain of recycled rubble; Richard Deacon; Christopher Le Brun, who proposes a wing and disc; and Daniel Buren. The sculpture will sit next to the A2 in Kent near Ebbsfleet, which over the next 25 years is planned to become the site of more than 10,000 new homes. The landmark will be visible to travellers as they pull out of Ebbsfleet International train station bound for the continent, and to motorists as they drive to and from Dover. ...

Re: Support!!!

Another Xtra large piece of uncreative and uninspiring crap.
Now, if they turned it into a clock and instead of chiming every hour like Big Ben this horse sent a big turd out of its ass and the turd just happened to hit that sculptor on the head, now wouldn't that be something?
I need a drink!
Have a great day,
Jeff

Re: Sculpture contenders on show

Hey Grommet,
Everyone asks me that question, what do you really think?
Do you agree with me about that piece?
Have a great day and stay away from the business end of that stallion,
Jeff
