PFA

I was invited to exhibit in Big Canoe's Premier Fine Art Showcase, and I am the only metal sculptor, and sculptor with works on the grounds in the development.{www.bigcanoe.com}.The grounds are amazing, 7000 acers,my own little mini storm king.I hope to have 14 works in the exhibit, which is open to the public from june 6th to july 16.I used the "sloppin the hogs" mind set ,as I have 2 firescreens,1 fantasy gate,2 fuctional art,4 pedstal,1 7' for the waterfall,1 bench, and 3 outdoor 10 plus sculptures..I only need about 1oo more works and I could do the development big time.Anybody from the ATL or surounding areas should check it out, excellent location for networking....IA

Re: PFA

I set up between monsoon rains today, and I have three sculptures left to install.I ordered 500 b cards and 300 5x7 post cards, then the curator of the show tells me there target is about 30,000 people in six weeks.Opps my printing might last the weekend. How do you give out pr material to 30,000,knowing that 98% might can it.Has anybody been in a similar situation,I don't want anything looking cheap, but im crazy not to have something for people to grab on the way out......IA

Re: PFA

can you have a 'guest book' just in case? Should you run out of cards you can follow up from email addresses. But yeah, need more cards...

Re: PFA

I do my postcards 1000 at a time. And that usually last for several of such shows. Guess only a small percentage of them is interested in what I'm doing.

Besides, the promoters and curators will always over-estimate the attendance to the artists. We cant tel. A shitload is a shitload...10 20 or 50 thousand. You'll do fine, IA. Get ready to be a chatterbox, though. THATS where it counts.

Re: PFA

EV,your probally right on the amount of brouchers,as the glass guy from Italys North American rep brought about 1500 too, like he says can always print more.Out of 14 sculptures I am actually painting a steel bench in bright colors.I forgot what a pain in the ass it is to paint ,if you want it to look good and be done right. If it was solid I would have powdercoated, but I blew the dust off the old Binks # 7 and dove on in.I'll post a picture of it instaled next week ,if it comes out like I hope it does.....IA

Re: PFA

Just so ya know…this “Big Canoe” is purdy uppity. My wife and I got turned away Saturday because of the motocycle we rode inon. Even after explaining to the gate guard we got cash….and were interested in looking at the tons of the bank repo, short sales, distressed properties, etc…..they still turned us away.

Anyway…we’ll be up next weekend for the Art….

Re: PFA

Well last weekend my wife and I disguised ourselves soze we could get into the big canoe fine art show. It waas worth it actually,….as nice a collection of art as I’ve seen in awhile.
we had to drive way back up into the hills of this subdivision to find the lill house the realtors were hanging out in… after the introductions, free realestate dvd’s, brochures, guestbook thing, chit-chat, bla bla………we viewed the art...

That was a quack up! Actually, gotta respect that. I often change the look, but there are some where I can't pass anymore. The attitude doesn't match the get-up.

Re: PFA

CLEAN jeans, a CLEAN concert shirt and cowboys boots. Thats how they know I'm comin' to town. And if that dont impress 'em, maybe the Art will. "COME AND GET IT YOU, REG'LARS!" and if they dont...well, the rich folk always have beer or wine nearby. So alls well.

I get the feeling you've probably never won a hog calling contest, Evaldart.

Re: PFA

Hey Duck,ya they are covidence out the yang, aint no Harley going in there.I would rather exhibit my work in an upscale joint where people have second homes over a mill by the hundreds then the hood any day though. The show is no doubt a draw to court the Atlanta crowd up there to look at property and houses, but it seems to be a great draw for the artist too.If we sell, get commisions, hook up conections that could be fruitful, well than it's all good.I have to go back and I will get better shots to post...IA
