pictures from stone carving show

hi i just got back from the bancroft rock hound gemboree and stone carving festival. thought id share some pics. i participated in one a few years ago and made some friends of the carvers there. and here are some of there work this year enjoy. these carvings are by steven loney, wen xie and john sabourin

that's all bancroft rock? I don't recognize any but the stuff we were calling "meat rock".
Looks like folks were having fun.

Chris, I think your work would really stand out there. How is the show in terms of sales?

no not bancroft rock i dont think. the usually stuff soapstone alabaster marble and the likes. i might see if i can get in next years show. im sure it would be fun.
i am not to sure what the sales would be like but one carver said he does quite well. he told me as many as 20 thousands visitors come through. of coarse they're there for the gem and rock festivel more than the carving show.
they have a featured carver there for each show that carves what i think is some locale marble and then the carving is placed somewhere in town.
here is this years featured artist


and a couple fossils that are works of art in them selfs
