MAYBE BANNED? Opening Sat. June 5th Red Bank, NJ

Ok.... well the Art Alliance asked me to be the "Featured Window Artist" this month. Sounds great right? So i Brought over 2 Ultra Minimal abstract large pieces a few days ago, and put them in the window.

Wanting to have a touch of suspense i had covered them up to be "Revealed" just before the opening this SAT. Night.

Well someone peaked...... Alarm bells went off to the tune of Mr. Von Arx you put work in the window that is not "Representative" of what we know your sculptures to be.

HMMMMM.... funny i thought i had an ok grasp of what my pieces look like and are about. Maybe not.... So the President asked me to remove my installed pieces and bring over something more like what i normally do.....

Ahh sorry but no can do Ms. President.

The pieces Stay! And unless they (the ladies) can lift 300- 400 lbs. they be stuck with me. Oh well should make for a fun time at the reception.

I'll be the one drinking all the beer.

Comon over if you have a minute or 2 this Sat June 5th 6-8PM.

They are even having a band!

Art Alliance on 33 Monmouth St. Between Broad St. and Bridge. Red Bank, NJ

I think you should do a press release using this info-- that should get them some foot traffic.

It is not within the power of the "powers that be" to ban an artist. WE ban THEM. We ban them by dismissal, ignoring and refusing to consider. Happens all the time.

No worries, for the very reason one group is bristled another group will be enthusiastically welcoming. But you've certainly piqued our interest here...pics please.

You must put a HUGE price tag on your work. That will put more awe into the work and make your intentions more noble. Funny how money does that.

Re: MAYBE BANNED? Opening Sat. June 5th Red Bank, NJ

So I wish i could say that the lady on the sidewalk passed out because she was just so overwhelmed by the stunning work of the "Featured Artist" in the window, but i don't think that was the case.

And i also wish i could say that the cops showed up because i was fighting off an attack by the blue hair old bitty bats that control the art alliance with close minded arthritic fists. But it was not the case.

The band did play and rocked the back room while a lots of people stopped by to check out the show.

We all drank a bunch of beer and watched the other wacky artists dance around the painting room.

As for my pieces they were hardly controversial. And their weight kept them solidly in place.

And the Pres of the Alliance? Well she never showed up. I did however have some of the old timers come up to me and say well done, we need some new blood and you guys are our future. Funny to hear that as i'm almost 45.

Anyway the opening was a great time much fun had by most. And oh yeah here are a few shots of what was supposed to be pulled.

1. Brother in Arms
2. Truncated Dream
Sorry for the crappy pics.

Joe - I put down $6,500 for the pair and $12,500 for the "stump". An just for fun, I also floated a rumor that one might already be sold.

Well, its daytime and someone is passed out already. That wouldnt happen in the East Village.

But it does look like a grand time was had and of course the whole event must be judged by the conversation...not the art.

Kudos to the sidewalked rebel rouser. She'll out-do the lot of you in the long run :

We need some closer shots of those trunks of yours, Sub.

The side walk lady had just discovered her husband was the buyer!

Thanks very Hard to see in the pics. Much more pronounced in person. It's much of what the piece is about.

Here is a slightly better shot of the Brothers and 1 of the int. show.
