Re: Earthquake

Current events have the same potential for initiating a creative act as historical events, fictional events, unworldly events and non-events. The creative act will be sparked by anything...but the ensuing flame is at liberty to forget its premise or discard its progenitor...burn-up immediately that initiator. Nobody cares about the lighter fluid, but those burning coals are of supreme importance. If all goes well, the completed artpiece will make no reference to any issue that might have spawned it. The Art is ITS OWN event.

Re: Earthquake

As I type this a man on NPR is talking about earthquake. Talks about the experience and manifestation of a higher power that makes him feel insignificant. A situation that should be avoided. His experience was October 2007 while in prison and its restriction on liberty.
I created the Earthquake sculpture after Katrina. It was first titled "By the Waters of Katrina" then it became Earthquake from an intuition. Little did I know that my home town Port-au-Prince, would four years later be devastated by a major 7.0 earthquake.
