Solution for login problems at Sculpture Community
A few of you have had a problem staying logged in and now that I have a Windows XP system of my own I know what causes the problem.
The problem mainly affects Windows XP users that first came to the community by using the ISC (Sculpture.org) site, and thus bringing up our site (sculpture.net) in a frame. Microsoft has the default security setting in Internet Explorer to refuse permissions from sites that you load in the frame of another window, although it also seems to depend on what upgrade you are using.
After permissions are refused, the Sculpture community can’t reliably keep you logged in.
Well it’s actually very easy and here are instructions for Windows XP users:
- Open Explorer (or browse to any page other than Sculpture Community).
- Go to the top menu item Tools (usually between Favorites and Help) and select Internet Options.
- In the resulting dialogue box you should see a heading Temporary Internet files, and a button that says “Delete Cookies”
- Select the delete cookies button and hit ok and you’re done.
Then just browse directly to www.sculpture.net and login with your username and password and it should work correctly and allow you to post and view restricted access areas.
You will also need to log in using your same user name and password the first time you use the Photo Gallery area. That is because it needs an additional level of permissions to allow you to upload photos. In the Photo gallery www.sculpture.net/gallery you will see a second bar under the “Welcome ----“ header.
On the far right of the second bar you should see Home | Search | Register | Login - select “Login” and enter your same username and Password. The resulting screen should now have updated options on the second bar and you should see Home | Search | Profile | Upload Photos | Logout
(note: you do have be an ISC member to access the 2,000,000 bytes of space allocated to each member for Uploading Photos)
With that you should be good to go, and the system should remember you whenever you visit the site and allow you the additional privileges.
