Re: Religion. Can we get it all out Now.

Hay Tired Iron, where do I send the endorsement check?

Hay everybody GlennT wrote me a poem! I didn't know he cared so much! I'm somebody now, my own poem. And it is an excellent piece of satire, well done. I think we have the makings of a very clever literary club here.

I need to refine my last post, the one where I said I agree with every point of view, especially since GlennT spanked me. Here is a means of judging right or wrong in view of each person being able to create their own reality. The test is - is what you are doing accomplishing what you said you want to create?

If the objective of going into Iraq was to save American lives then the war is a spectacular failure because Bush managed to send more Americans to their death than ‘ol Osama managed to. So if that was the objective, then the war is wrong. If the objective was to prevent another attack on America then the war has been quite successful these past five plus years. By that objective the war is right.

If the Israeli’s and Palestinians’s goal is to secure peace and a better future for their children then both sides have failed consistently in every instance over the past 60 years. Everything they have done is wrong if that is what each side wished to create. Peace and security is generally what each side says they want, so again, they are wrong.

Arafat viewed himself as a perpetual refugee in an unending struggle against an oppressor. In his reality he was consistently, and always right. He had an amazing chance to solve the whole mess toward the end of his life. But if he had done so he would then have been wrong about everything he considered himself and his people to be. He chose instead to be right and true to his reality, and the whole peace potential was sabotaged and still is to this day.

If you ever wounder why your very logical argument is getting no where with another reasonable person, do a check on their version of reality and you may find your logic is written in a language foriegn to them.

Communism failed in all of its promises, it was wrong and has been discredited. Socialism and Capitalism have mixed records. Religion, (back on topic, I knew I could figure out how to do that) is very right in some folks realities, and very wrong in other peoples realities. And that is the reason dear friends we are still discussing this topic 226 posts later.

Glenn, you sure they didn't slip you some gas at the dentist office?

If the objective of America in Iraq was to secure peace in the mid east they failed.

If the objective was to pad the pockets of Haliburton, Cheney and the oil cronies , they succeeded.

If the objective was to secure more oil and raise the profits of said oil sales , THEY SUCCEEDED.

In the beginning it was to be called ..Operation Iraqi Liberation....But because of the obvious acronym they changed it to Operation Iraqi Freedom.

Praise the almighty dollar.

If the goal was to stop Saddam from trading oil in Euros instead of dollars, potentially collapsing our currency and economy
then we succeeded
If the goal was to sucker would be terrorists into attacking our well trained, armed, and equipped soldiers who fight back with effective deadly force, instead of attacking megabusiness interests and people (who are not well armed nor equiped) here
then we succeeded

if you think the folks who send the troops feel any responsibility to do things your way
then you are delusional

'course this ain't got nutten to do wid god nor religion

if god is in all things
then all things should be treated with reverence
and, personally
I can't think of a better way for my fellow travelers on space ship earth to behave
