White Buffalo

Where I am working now, a granite monument company, they had some pieces of white marble, and the owner of the company wanted a white buffalo,...since he is "loaning" me a work space, and also he said he will pay me , this is the first project I started,..
Here is the first stage of it, photo taken last week, then I got some time this week too, .it is still not quite finished, but getting closer, ...I have about 10 hours into it so far.

These 2 , are how it looked last week, after about 4 hours,..

The last 2, are where I am at today, I got in about 6 more hours, yesterday and today, getting the stone cut out under and around the legs, is proveing to be a little tedious, and difficult, his mane, (beard) still needs to be seperated from the ground, I do want it to appear as if he is standing in grass, so his hoofs(feet) probably will never show very much,..

and

The size is , about 6 in in height, the base is about 5in wide 8 long, actually I haven't measured it,..
I suppose, this is more in the line of "carving" then sculpting ? I am not sure, what defines the difference, between a carving, or a sculpture,..? But that would be better in another discussion thread ,I think,..

Nice looking piece, and the story and timing make it even more impressive. I'm not personally finicky about the words sculpture and carving, but I know some people are.

Some day, maybe, or hopefully, something like this, would be neat to make, but closer to life size, from a large block,of marble .

Yes it dose, also I was just using the "web cam" on my laptop, I really need to get a good camera some day. I visited your web site, interesting work.

I have finished this " White Buffalo", the "boss" liked it, and he also asked me if I could do one bigger,..I am going to see about getting a big "block" of white marble, and try doing one, not quite life size, but about "half scale",....

I have just gotten a personal message from Garry Ricketson saying that the images no longer are at that site, but he gives the same site as the new location. I'm not sure what he means, but am posting this possibly to clarify matters.

Thanks fritchie, OOPs! sorry about that, I guess I wasn't very clear and should have included, the new site, URL, I see you did edit it, here is the correct URL,

In the first posts I had several images, of the various stages, when I was making it,
however, I have not yet uploaded them to my new host.
So if you do not mind, can you replace it with the above , or just remove it.(the one in the first post,http://www.sculpture.net/community/s...69&postcount=1 This reply pretty much explains, and there is no need to have the image posted twice,..
