Finder's Fee

New experience. An architect/landscape designer who showed an interest in my work suggested my sculpture to a couple. He wants me to consider what I would normally be a "Finders Fee" and discount the sculpture by that amount, thus giving his client a price break. Sounds a little unusual, but ok by me. I'm thinking 15%. How does that sound to you guys? Anybody have experience dealing with architects, designer's etc. who basically point to your work and take a commission?

Re: Finder's Fee

Hello Robert,
Given that you sell some of your work through galleries, you have their commission for a sale built in already to the retail price (40%,50%?.) Since it sounds like the architect made this sale for you, a 15% reduction on your end sounds like a good deal all around: You make enough on the sale and place a piece, architect looks good by saving his/her clients some money. and clients are happy because they have one of your great sculptures and they got a bit of a deal!

Re: Finder's Fee

Thanks, Mack. I think that sounds reasonable. I'm going over this morning. I hope all goes well.
