New exhibition: "Hybrids," at Wave Hill,Glyndor Gallery
Bronx, NY From March 1-May 11, 2003, Wave Hill presents Hybrids, an exhibition of works by 14 artists that explores the allure of combining species through biological, mythological and technological prisms. Wave Hill's 28 acres of gardens, where hybridized plants can be observed, offers the perfect setting for this show.
"From mermaids to roses to 'Hybrid' cars, this rich and diverse exhibition highlights a fascination with hybrids that dates back to the ancient world and continues today," says Jennifer McGregor, Wave Hill Visual Arts Curator. Featured artists include Siona Benjamin, Neha Choksi, Elizabeth Cohen, Michael Eade, Joan Fontcuberta, Leslie Fry, George Gessert, Marina Gutierrez, David Lefkowitz, Irene Hardwicke Olivieri, Stas Orlovski, Laura Stein, Eva Sutton and Keith Yurdana.
