Hi, everyone
I'm new here. I have come here in need of help. I am a student in China. These days, I am writing my thesis on sculpture. My teacher asked me to translate it into English, but some professional words are difficult to translate for me. So I found this site for your help.
What are sterling English for the followings,
1. Building Sculpture (the shape of the whole building is a sculpture)
2. Street Sculpture (located in the street)
3. Water-aboved Sculpture (located on the surface of the lake water)
4. Commemorative Sculpture (
5. Lawn Sculpture (located on the surface of the lawn)
6. Square Sculpture (located in a square)
7. Park Sculpture (located in a park)
8. Classical Sculpture (traditional sculpture)
9. Colored Sculpture (in China, some sculptures are done on the surface of the winebottle, vase, then painted in many colors)

I am sorry for my poor English. Could you understand me?
Thank you for your reading and help!

Hi, First of all I'd like to say how nice it is to be able to talk to someone half way around the world. The computer is changing the world and just think, it's only in its infancy. As far as your list goes, here's a few suggestions from me.
1. architectural sculpture
2,6,7. public sculpture- sculpture situated in a place where anyone can approach it.
3. floating sculpture?- someone else may have a better name for it.
4. commemorative sculpture is good. sculpture done as a memorial to a historic event or famous person.
5. lawn sculpture is good or garden sculpture.
8. classical, traditional or realistic, I think any of those terms would do.
9. painted sculpture.
I'm not at all familiar with the Chinese language but in english some terms are interchangeable, #8 for example. Also, in a description of painted sculpture you could say that it's monochromatic (one color) or multicolored (more than one color).
I hope I have been of some help to you. Are you a sculpture student?
Good luck in your studies and I hope you get a good grade on your thesis. Jeff
