The Sica show will have about 1/2 the artists as last year.
The Block Island show may also have a few less partictpants although the best will be back.

It also seems there are much less people asking about shows this year as compared to years past.

Is the economy slowing down your submissions? Are you less willing to travel for a show in this slowed economy?

Yes, I have reduced my show schedule, tightening my circle, less traveling than usual. I have seen the compensation (stipend) and prize money drop in many shows this year by as much as half. I'm still busy enough...but the economic environment has indeed caused me to reconsider some opportunities; I'm sticking mainly with things that have worked (profited me) in the past.
While I fully believe that good things are enabled by being out there, even at a loss, I'm definitely holding back a little in 09. Maybe next year I'll unleash again.

I just started doing the shows/festivals in late January. I've done 4 shows in 7 weeks. One was a last minute booking and had only 35 of a projected 80 artists.
The galleries have sold 3 works in 5 months. I've sold 23 works out of the 4 shows. I'm booking them out as far as 6 months which ties up a lot of profit money.
