I am very interested in knowing if it can be used in an exterior application in a climate that has harsh winters. I am also very curious if anyone has tried brushing it on rather than spraying it on. Their website says both are possible but their gallery seems only to show it sprayed on. This product seems very promising!

I know a guy that's used it and it truly is metal after all so it holds up fine. I'd think as long as whatever you're spraying it on can handle the weather, you'd be OK. When it's cast, you can hammer it, bend it whatever, it's pretty wild stuff.

Seems like a very expensive version of Bonded XYZ where xyz is any metal or substance that you bond (glue) with a resin.

This product seems to be a spray version of bonded (cold cast) bronze, copper, etc. Objects in photo gallery have a super slick, even cheap appearance. Possibly due to no variation in color or texture. For those who don't like that look, they might be worked over with cold patina materials such as vinegar, ammonia, etc. Very expensive stuff.

Look at LuminOre, you can take a torch to it when applying a patina. It's very unlike most cold cast materials. (That's what I was thinking of when you said Plateall, my mistake)

Hello Harryman, have you used this before? I read the details from their website and it sounds a lot like any other type of bonded metal. Maybe the binder is able to withstand higher temps, but other than that it sounds the same. I am just curious to see if any one has used hot patinas on this, and if so, what results they achieved. The website is very (purposefully) vague about this product. I read their website and it almost sounds like a late night TV info-mercial. If their claims are true it might be a nice product.

I have not, although I'm intrigued with it. I have a friend who has played with cured pieces of it and he said that it feels and acts just like metal. He could bend it around and hammer on it and said as far as he could tell, it was just bronze. Unlike bonded, it feels cold to the touch and I believe has a higher metallic content. I'm planning on getting up to Denver, which is my closest distributor and seeing if I can get my hands on some. Till then, it's just hearsay.

My bonded bronzes range in metal content (By weight) from 85% up to about 91 or 92%. I would love to find something that allowed me to go up higher. If even 1/2 of what they claim is correct then this is worth testing.

If you do get a chance to see this product, or test it, I would love to hear your thoughts and or test results.

Many thanks.

I am just a voyeur on this site from time to time. And I cannot tell you much about Plateall from a personal level as I have not used it so will refrain from comments I have heard.

But the LuminOre is all that I do from a production level to one of's for individuals. I can tell you that their "claims" are true that you see on the site. But I can also tell you that you can not get your hands on any of it to play with unless you are trained by them. (Their rules not mine)

I have not taken a torch to it and I don't know why ( I have done everything else) but it is suppose to take temperatures up to 375 degrees, and it is rated Class A. I usually just use cold patinas but I think I will try the torch idea today at the shop.

Anyways, it someone wants some small samples or even wants to know more visit my website and send me an email. I would be happy to respond.
Peace
Janey
