Hello:
You have a wonderfull community and forums.

Here are pictures of the back of the sculptor's house and studio in rural Iowa, and sculptor working on LYNN and me(younger).

2 story Studio/woodworking shop is on right and house is on left. The multilevel deck has a view of the Iowa river.

I'm reclaimeing the clay from the
"mermaid" (http://home.mindspring.com/imagelib/sitebuilder/misc/show_image.html?linkedwidth=actual&linkpath=http://home.mindspring.com/~mandali/sitebuildercontent/sitebuilderpictures/figure.sculpture.mermaid.by.figure.sculptor.rod.pa tterson.jpg&target=tlx_new&title=Mermaid-Wave%20Rider%20%20figure%20sculptor,%20Rod%20Patte rson)

And, starting the armature for the lifesized "screaming man" (temp title)

On that page, you'll find a link to ISIS on the truck under "art to the people"

"I believe that art has a moral responsibility, that it must pursue something higher than itself. Art must be a part of life. It must exist in the domain of the common man. It must be an enriching, ennobling and vital partner in the public pursuit of civilization. It should be a majestic presence in everyday life just as it was in the past".(If I emulate the masters, it is out of respect.)-Rod Patterson
Let us strive for:“The ability to have faith; to sustain hope; to feel the transforming power of beauty; and the revel in the innocence of the world around us”.

Rod I am very interested to see something of this screaming man.

And would you mind giving a some commentary on Windancer, history of the subject perhaps.

Now to my lovely mermaid. Oops, your lovely mermaid. The gloss in the picture titled quote;

Hermosa Beach MERMAID
53 X 28 X 43 inches

...the gloss adds a whole new dimension that was missing yet un-identified by myself from the other images. A. Of course she should be wet as her original purpose would almost always had made her so. B. More importantly to myself it adds a greater sense of movement, as if she is glistening with persperation. The whole posture comes together for me and what little hesitations I might of had for muscle definition evaporate instantly. This is a mammal in athletic action. I am curious about the directions you have mentioned in pedistals. A bow etc. The image I am refering to has a natural wood structuralisim that speaks to the traditional mounting of such sculptures. Whether this was luck or by design I would lean strongly toward maintaining that simple yet fitting background, that does not detract from her in the slightest.

Note on another page;

http://home.mindspring.com/~mandali/index.html

;there is a group of adjectives;

uplifting, spiritual,inspiring, unique, epic, vibrant, powerful, strong, awesome, and exciting.

;without sourceing or quotes, and this detracts as self congatulatory. I would correct this.
