Hi Everyone,

has anyone gone googling public sculpture from satellite using google earth?

I did a public project after they had collected the images and so its not on the sattelite photos.

Idea... if people are making buildings adn posting thme to google earth what about a virtual scupture project where we help google populate Google earth with actual scupture?

cheers,

Hi Michael,

We've looked at this and in fact we uploaded some sculptural pieces. It makes for a great universal viewer and like other google products is likely to become the standard. I think it can be educational also in that form can be explored interactively by the viewer.

The issue for sculpture, of course, is that it must exist in a 3D digital format. And unless it was designed in CAD or some other software form, it needs to be scanned - which is what we do. We have many art pieces on our site in an interactive viewable form. (See our Direct3Dview's on our site)

I'm curious if this format interests you - the sculptor?

I have a friend who is involved in street art who is currently / has done some paintings/installation viewable from satellite. Now he needs to wait for the refresh aka the rescan of the area by a satellite.

Best,
Philippe.
