View Full Version : How do I mold with all these undercuts?

Hi there

Currently making a 3ft Marvin the Martian out of papier mache based on the picture shown below.

Once it's complete I would like to make 2 copies (one for me & one for my bro), and I've been told that due to the size, weak areas, and numerous undercuts, that my best bet would be to cast in fibreglass from a silicone mold with a fibreglass jacket.

So....where do I start :o ?

I'm guessing that the silicone is painted on in layers till it's about 2cm thick, left to dry, cut into parts (as few as possible but enough to allow me to get the original out), stuck back together and then the procedure repeated with the fibreglass jacket?

Or do I apply both layers and cut into sections at the end?

Many thanks in advance

Marv
