Tell me your opinion. I am planning to set up a virtual art museum to exhibit virtual art. Those among you who are familiar with virtual reality technology will know what the immersive experience is. It is more than just snorkling. It goes deeper. However anyone anywhere in the world with the equipment, a PC with the specs, HMD, gloves, etc could browse the virtual gallery and art.
Sculptors could have their art scanned with haptic input too
and upload their work to the gallery. The haptic gloves would provide the tactile feel if necessary. Stage one.

Stage two. Sculptors could evolve their uploaded work or create forms with the numerous software available including new dimensions and meanings to their art such as vocals, music, mixed visuals, and tactiles. The limitations of materials can be removed.

This is the sketch of what I have in mind. Now tell it to me as it is!

Hello Tandigon,

We are working to create a very similar concept for a virtual art gallery. We have several examples of 3D art/sculpture on our site already in an interactive virtual environment. Please see DDI's Direct3Dview (http://www.dirdim.com/port_direct3dview.htm) for examples. We have hundreds more that are not on our public site, some of which I can send you special links to view.

We specialize in the 3D scanning of art and sculpture and creating digital models that can be displayed virtually. In addition these models are usable for fabrication and other purposes.

If you would like to collaborate to further these concepts, please contact me.
