Pat Steadman, sculpture professor at Georgia Southern University, will be having his Legacy show tonite to celebrate 32 years of teaching,as he will be retiring in 06.As an 85 alumni,I was supposed to be one of his former students in the show.Making one of the hardest discisions I have made in my art career,I had to pull out the show and miss the opening tonite. Why,well I have a musuem show with 18 works to be installed at end of March/first of April, and pick up time for there show is the week before mine,it aint happening.I am currently working on six life size and up stainless horses, and weekends are my main time to work,mr mom mon.to wen.
I called Pat to inform him,and as usual he was not only cool about it,he incouraged me to stay home and work on my "hoses."I told him in a wierd way I am giving him the ultimite complement,I can not show twenty years later because I am knee deep in a career he helped forge the basics shape to form.
Props to the profeesor, you rock.............Eric Strauss
