I am revisiting this again. I am wanting to make large cartoon sculptures to display in a children's building. I could sculpt them out of foam but my foam skills are not yet where I would like them. So the thought came to me to sculpt the detailed parts, head, hands out of wed clay and then cast them in alginate, then make a eps copy to be fiberglassed. I have figured out the hard coat part. Looking for input on the molding in alginate and casting in eps. I realize I will need a mother mold to keep the alginate molds shape. Release agents for eps and alginate?
Thanks for any input.

Perhaps strospray is the material your looking for. If you get the demo video on strospray you can see how versatile the spray can be.

But I don't know how well the urethane resin will setup against a waterbased alginate mold, unless it was sealed somehow.

The owners are good people to deal with, they could tell you.

Just a thought. I dislike polyester fiberglass resins soooo much, melts all sorts of surfaces :(
