View Full Version : Hump & Schlepp
Just wondering if there are any other sculptors in the Los Angeles area ready, willing, able for the occassional sculpture move and install. I've done this professionally for a number of years and feeling the need to pass the torch, plus I've got a few of my own I need to scoot around.

I'm amazed that no one has leapt upon this golden opportunity! the only reason I haven't is because my studio is in Massachusetts!
Moving work to and from shows is definitely a project and finding people to help each other out in this way is very useful. I hope you get a network together for everyone's sake.
Thanks for posting the offer.

Thanks for the reply JAZ. Was beginning to think nobody cared ;) . Not too surprised by the lack of response. People in L.A. tend to be spread thin and on the run. I think when it comes to making sculpture, studio time is a premium and many folks don't want to 'lower' themselves by doing menial work. Of course then they go and spend hours chipping rock or pounding metal. Isn't that what prisons are for? My running joke is that I became an artist so I wouldn't have to drive a truck or dig holes for a living. Well, in a few hours I'm hopping in the rental truck to drive fifty miles to dig a hole to set a sculpture in. Menial work, sure but for me the fitting finale of the whole art making experience. At some point I find the installation process just as interesting as making the art itself. It also inspires new ideas for the next piece and gives some great opportunities to interact with the collector in their environment.
