Library wants me to do a clock for the childrens story room......
been awhile since I read to my twins
concept phase----I'm thinking the whole thing as one big clock--with the retired story time reader as noon-----then the main characters of the childrens stories (11) arranged arround the dial in some order(thinking alphabetical)
ok----so, I ain't neve done duckies, bears, frogs, and camels------and, I don't remember that many characters-----and maybe out of date applies---and I used to read mythology(greek-celtic-egypt-sumeria-nordic) which probably don't apply
so any thoughts on the basic concept and especially the characters?
Today I dismantle the drum on my spiral stairway for my little greenhouse, and then biscut and glue it back up, then start the sketches and clay for the clock this eve, sand and lacquer the drum tomorow, and work on the clay, then install the stairway -------and frame the raised floor and cut the flooring while playng with the clay in early mornings and evenings
nice thing about clay-----it serves well as a sketching tool
the oak, ash, and locust stairway and deck won't be quite as forgiving
In the concept phase-----I look for wild swings in idea and pattern to test different visions---so no voiced concept is a bad one--I've got a max of 44" x 44" to work with and plan the final in painted hydrocal---so current concept is round(i'm an old analogue guy) though I'm thinking oblong or square would also fit the space-----but teaching children, seems analogue is a tad more appropos?????
Thoughts?
