Hello, I'm an artist here in San Francisco and would love to meet others in the area. I'm also looking for a place to carve Marble here in the area. Any ideas becides Renicance Stone in Oakland?
I'm afraid I don't know anything about stone carving resources, so I can't help you there, but others who do will probably speak up. Oakland and San Franciso are terrific cities. You should be able to find what you need there.
Wish I could be more helpful.

Hello. I am living in the South Bay (perhaps soon to be East Bay). I am looking to learn how to carve stone. I have done one piece a few years ago, but it was soap stone. I have nothing against it, but I would like to learn how to sculpt with a variety of stones from soap stone to marble. I am just trying to figure out how I get started. If you hear anything please let me know. I suppose I will do the same. cheers!

Welcome, McLingerman, and also dvilla18. The stone community here is not as large as the metal-assembly community and the casting community, but it has grown rapidly, and it already has a wide geographic distribution. I'm sure these posts will get a helpful response.
