embedded steel?

Has anyone any experience with embedding mild steel in clear acrylic or casting resin? I know that steel sealed with clear laquer is not stable, but would it be if entirely encapsulated in plastic?

I havent tried it so a test would be the best way to know, but in theory if you can keep the environment away from the steel it should stop oxidizing, no oxygen no oxidation. Its kind of like having a fire in a sealed container, you can have fuel and heat but without oxygen you can't have flame. Ok not exactly like that but I hope you get the point, and you obviously understand the oxidation because you thought of encapsulating it in resin, my comments here probably didn't give you any new insight...just try it and see
