I switched foundries and would really like to have swivel bases on my small scuptures. Does anyone know a supplier?

thanks,
Bridgette

Do you mean rotating ones, like a Lazy Susan?

Bridgette - I have several swivel bases that I got from a hardware store, which I use for various purposes in my studio. These are ball-bearing mounted, about 10 - 12 inches in diameter, and quite flat, only about 1/4 to 3/8 inches thick. Not what you want, I’m sure, but this might give you ideas.

A smaller version of this could be put into a recess in a wooden base, with a bit of work. You might ask hardware stores for smaller versions of these, if you think they might work. I don’t recall price, but they weren’t exorbitant, maybe $10 each.

Well, that's much less expensive than what I was going to offer! If you can afford it (or if your patron can afford it), The Compleat Sculptor (http://www.sculpt.com/) makes custom bases (go to the website, their catalogue, and view the bases). They're quite expensive though, and because of that I haven't purchased any from them yet so I can't offer any review of them.

I actually just ordered a few from McMaster Carr at: http://www.mcmaster.com/

Search under Bearing Turntables. I got 2 of their 12" circle versions that can carry up to 1000 pounds. A sculpture of mine weighing around 150 pounds rotates very nice on one.
