Hello,
I am interested in welded sculpture. It has been an ongoing interest to me. I teach welding and metallurgy at a community college and am looking into building a few classes that deal with the techniques that someone would need to get into welded sculpure. I hope to get some ideas and keep up with what is happening out there.

Welcome, Kevin. It's always good to have another educated opinion around. And I agree with Araich, chim in any time you like. Or is that Chime? You never can tell with those Aussies!...
Hi, Kevin,
Welcome to the group. Too bad our community college doesn't offer welding. You, and your students, are fortunate to have that kind of facility. Do you recommend a textbook to your students? What kind of work do you do yourself?

I am at Henry Ford Community College in Dearborn. Would like to hear from you. As far as a text book. Thats a good question. My classes that I teach are based in the trades and manufacturing. We use a basic welding technology book from GW publisher called Modern Welding. As far as text book for the art classes, I don't know. There is interest from some publishers about the classes that I'm developing, so being an author could be an exciting idea.

Welcome to you, Kevin!
How long have you been teaching?
If you have any examples of your own work, feel free to post them.

Been teaching for around 5 years part-time. Just came in as full-time faculty this fall. So know that the program and labs are mine, I get to arrange things to how I want them. I am quite the novice compared to alot of the people on this site, so until I feel a little more confident about my work, I will be participating through the written word. :)
